This event will bring together six of the industry's leading female leaders to share stories of their lives, chat about challenges they have experienced, and how they make it all work.  ​

​The evening is designed to connect and celebrate women in the energy industry. Showcasing how we can work together to combat gender bias and discrimination and accelerate gender equality in our industry. There will be no shortage of exciting conversation and opinions!​

Join host Kirstin Gove as we hear from six fabulous ladies leading the way in the energy sector who will provide insight into their experiences and share what has helped them achieve success – both personally, and professionally. ​

Host -  Kirstin Gove

Kirstin Gove is as a former STV News Anchor and broadcast journalist who has worked in the Scottish media industry for more than 25 years and since 2018, has been the Head of Communications at Step Change in Safety, the not-for-profit safety body for the UK oil and gas industry.

After graduating with an Honours degree in German and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen, Kirstin joined Grampian Television in Aberdeen as a trainee reporter in 1995 and went on to become a main anchor on the STV News at Six and latterly News Editor producing and presenting the bulletins on STV.

After leaving the station, Kirstin embarked on a career in PR, marketing, media training and emergency response delivering services to a broad spectrum of clients and governmental organisations across the country. She is also a seasoned event host, panel chair and MC.

Colette Cohen OBE, CEO of OGTC

Colette is the Chief Executive Officer of OGTC, an organisation committed to the research and development of technology to accelerate the oil and gas industry’s transition to an affordable net zero future. Colette has worked in the industry for more than 25 years, both in the UK & Internationally for BP, ConocoPhillips & Centrica E&P, where she was the regional VP for the UK & Netherlands before joining OGTC. Colette has a degree in Chemistry from Queens in Belfast, a masters in Project Management & Economics from CERAM in France and an honorary PhD from Aberdeen University. Colette was also awarded the Order of the British Empire by the Queen for services to the Oil and Gas industry.  

She is the Chair of the National Composites Centre and sits on the boards of OPITO, NORECO and the Lloyds Advisory Board. She is also a Commissioner for the Just Transition Commission for Scotland, a Trustee for Springer Rescue for Scotland and an ambassador for Powerful Women. Colette is an active champion for the industrial transition of the oil and gas industry to a net zero future and a committed role model for women in industry. 

Deirdre Michie OBE, CEO of OGUK  

Deirdre was appointed CEO of OGUK in May 2015. She has an LLB Hons in Scots Law and extensive experience as a senior business leader in the global energy sector; Deirdre is a Non-Executive Director of Scottish Water, a Board member of Opportunity North East, a member of the Scottish Government’s Energy Advisory Board and a member of the Women’s Business Council, a UK Government body focused on increasing women’s contribution to economic growth.  

Previously Deirdre was a Board member of the North East of Scotland College (NESCOL) and Chair of the Aberdeen Science Centre. 

In 2018, Deirdre was awarded an OBE for her services to the oil and gas industry in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Deirdre was also awarded a Fellowship from NESCOL in 2018 and is a Burgess of Aberdeen. 

Sian Lloyd Rees, Head of UK and SVP Europe and Africa at Aker Solutions

In a career spanning more than 25 years, Sian has extensive business experience as a senior leader in both energy and IT industries, having held a number of leadership roles in both blue chip and start-up companies.   

The domain knowledge and global focus gained in the energy industry, coupled with the pace of evolving digital strategies and entrepreneurship encouraged in the IT industry, have both contributed to a proven track record in developing new and profitable business opportunities. She is the Head of UK and an SVP for Aker Solutions, a global provider of solutions and services across the broad energy sector. 

Sian is co-chair on the Board of Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) and was co-chair for the OGA MER Supply Chain & Exports steering group.  

Alexandra Thomas, Managing Director at Neptune Energy UK 

Alexandra Thomas is Neptune Energy’s UK Managing Director, based in Aberdeen. She joined Neptune in March 2020 from Tullow Oil plc, where she most recently held the position of Head of Exploration, Development and Commercial for Ghana. With 18 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector and a strong academic background, Alexandra began her career with assignments in Shell and Equinor before joining Tullow as a result of its acquisition of the Vattenfall assets in 2011.  

Alexandra has held a number of senior leadership roles in the UK, Netherlands, Norway and, most recently, in Ghana where she was responsible for both new venture exploration and development. She is an ardent supporter and promoter of diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace, including championing for more women in engineering and technical roles. She also actively mentors a number of men and women within the UK business, to support their career development.  

Alexandra has a PhD in Applied Fluids Dynamics and a First Class Master of Physics with Honours from the University of Edinburgh. 

Maria Bonikowska, General Manager at Air Liquide Maritime Energy 

Maria, a graduate from Technical University in Cracow, Poland as a Chemical Engineer, joined Air Liquide in Poland in 2000. In 2011, she relocated to AL Head Office in Paris as Product Manager. In 2014, Maria moved to Houston, TX as Global Account Manager for oil and gas division. In 2017, Maria moved to Aberdeen as GM of Air Liquide Oil & Gas managing activities for Upstream in Europe. Beginning 2019, Maria was appointed GM of the Maritime Energy - Group of AL entities serving the Upstream market globally. 

 

Mikki Corcoran, Managing Director at Schlumberger Europe 

With 20 years’ in the oil and gas industry, Mikki currently holds the position of Managing Director Schlumberger Europe. Prior to her current role she was General Manager Drilling for North America Offshore and before that she was a Global Account Director for a Tier1 Customer. Mikki has held various management positions in operations, human resources, sales & commercial and supply chain in Norway, Africa, United States, Asia and Europe. She began her career as a Wireline Field Engineer in 2000 in the Norwegian North Sea.
